Sophie is a 7 year old female chihuahua who was surrendered to animal control because her owners could no longer care for her. She takes some time to warm up to new people, but she is a sweet girl once she is comfortable. She does well at pottying on her pads, but needs some work at going outside more reliably. She gets along with other dogs and is quiet in the home. In fact, we have yet to hear her bark. She has very long, thin legs and her new owners should be careful with her jumping off of furniture and such to prevent any injuries. [Read About Natural Seizure Care] Meet Lupe! She is about 4 yrs old and 6 lbs and she was rescued from Chicago Animal Care & Control where she ended up there as a stray. The vet believes she has a lesion on her spinal chord which results in some neurological abnormalities. She is off all medications, she has had all of her vetting, but she should continue to see Dr. Carl for adjustments, who practices vet chiropractic and kinesiology. She is not 100% normal and probably never will be, but she is still lovable. She has had 3 seizures since she has been in our care, but if she is fed on a regular schedule and sees Dr. Carl in Winfield, IL ... (Read More)once a month she does wonderfully. She is on a raw diet from Stella and Chewy's- the Duck Duck Goose flavor- and we recommend that her new adopters continue her on this diet. Although she gets along with other dogs for the most part, if another dogs gets upset and starts barking she will go after them. For this reason, we think it would be best that she be placed as an only pet or with someone who would be willing to manage those occasions. Luckily- because of her neurological issues her aim isn't the best. She does great with pottying when taken out on a regular schedule. She will also use potty pads. She can do stairs, but isn't the best at them and sometimes needs help going up or down. She likes to play with toys and loves hopping around the yard.
